B.R.A.I.N. offers massage therapy services to help you relax, unwind, and target specific areas needing treatment after a brain injury.

Russell Ikeda, LMT – Shiatsu Massage Therapist

Shiatsu (Acupressure) Therapy is a pressing form of massage to relieve pain from injuries or stress, and helps muscles to stay limber and improves circulation and R.O.M. Points are located over muscles, nerves, arteries, and accu-points. This type of massage therapy may be done without oils and with clothes on. Stretching and soft tissue release are also applied.

ACUPUNCTURE

Research shows improved outcomes for patients with TBI and stroke in motor and speech rehabilitation with acupuncture treatment. Acupuncture can help with many symptoms associated with TBI and stroke such as chronic pain, headaches, dizziness, numbness, fine and gross motor impairment, memory and cognitive decline, insomnia, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Through acupuncture we can talk directly to the brain to encourage body wide relaxation and healing.

SPEECH/COGNITIVE THERAPY

B.R.A.I.N. Offers the Best in Speech Therapy for Those Affected by a Traumatic Brain Injury, Stroke, or aneurysm, with therapies specializing in voice, swallowing, aphasia, and apraxia.

Angela Mandas, M.A., CCC-SLP, licensed and certified Speech Language Pathologist, provides speech therapy to those at B.R.A.I.N. and also oversees graduate students in training and clinical fellows. She teaches at Chapman University as an Adjunct Professor and is the Clinical Fieldwork Coordinator. She also provides therapy at Precision Rehabilitation in Long Beach. One hour individual sessions are made by appointment at B.R.A.I.N.

Lynn Gallandt, M.S., CCC-SLP is a licensed and certified Speech Language Pathologist who provides individual and group therapy to adults with neurological disorders. She currently facilitates several weekly groups at B.R.A.I.N. including a cognition group, two expressive language groups and a stroke support group. One hour individual sessions are made by appointment at B.R.A.I.N or in-home therapy.
