Survivor Highlight: Steve Grove

Steve has been a part of the B.R.A.I.N. family for six years. You will often find him at F.B.I. and other B.R.A.I.N. events photographing the festivities. Steve learned about B.R.A.I.N. from a speech pathologist at the Long Beach VA. He visited the office, bought Sue’s book and read it in one sitting! Later he spoke to Sue on the phone and decided to start participating in B.R.A.I.N. activities. Along with F.B.I., Steve utilizes massage therapy and cognitive class when he can.

In September of 2011, Steve was hit by a car while riding his bicycle. Among his many injuries, he suffered from a cracked skull and was in a coma for 10 days. Three months later he had a seizure. Steve says he enjoys spending time with the other survivors and credits B.R.A.I.N. with making him a more outgoing person. He welcomes the friendships, safe place and opportunity to help others that B.R.A.I.N. provides.

Steve is a Vietnam Veteran and volunteers at the Long Beach VA helping other Veterans. Steve is passionate about photography and traveling. His love of travel has taken him to 30 countries so far!
