B.R.A.I.N. Cells Training
Dear Friends of B.R.A.I.N.
Saturday, July 24, 2010 in Los Alamitos, we had our first Brain Cells training session.
Nearly 40 volunteers came out to learn more about what brain injury is and how it affects families every day. The group learned many symptoms of brain injury as well as how to relate to brain injured individuals to bring them encouragement and hope.
Angela Mandas, speech pathologist and speech/language lecturer at Cal State Long Beach led the training. Tina Krieger, team leader for Brain Cells was on hand to explain the need for volunteers and how Brain Cells will be a positive social networking program for the brain injured and their families. Graduate students from Chapman University and Cal State Long Beach have joined the ranks of volunteers to fulfill their passion and desire to work with those who have sustained such injuries. All volunteers are required to go through Life Scan, a screening process to protect the clientele and to provide integrity for the organization.
Sue Rueb, Founder and President of Brain Rehabilitation And Injury Network spoke about the personal appreciation she has for all of the volunteers to help spread hope and health to her brain injured friends. Sue’s own daughter, Kristin is being connected with a Brain Cell partner.
Hearing stories of hope and help gave the meeting a sense of purpose and inspiration. Please sign up on our site if you would like to become a Brain Cell volunteer. If you have sustained a head injury and would appreciate talking and sharing about your injury, about life in general…please sign up on our web site, as well. We believe at B.R.A.I.N. that no one should travel the road of brain injury alone!
